The new language of XR: Making the extraordinary accessible
The language we use to describe XR (Extended Reality) is evolving, and so are the opportunities for brands. At Quantum, we believe that human connection is at the heart of every great brand moment. By simplifying the complex, we empower brands to engage, inspire, and act in ways that are impossible to ignore.
By making these technologies easier to understand and talk about, we unlock their true potential for brands and make measuring their success straightforward.
Our approach is built on three pillars: Screen Play, Motion Play, and Smart Play. Each pillar is designed to turn touchpoints into meaningful connections, delivering crafted encounters that inspire action and grow brand affinity. Read more about the pillars below, and how we’ve made them work.
SCREENplay:
Simplicity at the forefront
Screen Play strips away the complexity and takes advantage of consumers using their mobile phones as their first point of entry. It’s crafted to be familiar, intuitive, and requires no learning from the user. Think digital displays that invite participation, interactive screens at retail, pop-ups, or events. There’s no barrier to entry; consumers engage naturally, spending more time with your brand and sharing their experiences effortlessly.
By making XR accessible through everyday screens, brands become part of the consumer’s world, no instruction manual required.
Where it worked
The Adidas Women's World Cup activation at Sydney Harbour implemented immersive digital experiences that brought attendees closer to Adidas and their brand ambassadors. The 3D holograms transported the stars of the Australian team to the event, giving an illusion of their physical presence. Plus, a bespoke touchscreen app gave attendees the ability to craft personalised player cards.
Motion Play:
Frictionless engagement
Motion Play brings experiences to life through movement without requiring external hardware from the consumer. Whether it’s motion tracking, crowd presence, or body movement, users simply step in and become part of the spectacle.
This is perfect for brands looking to create buzz, draw crowds, and deliver unforgettable activations. By lowering the barrier to entry, we turn passive observers into active participants, making every moment measurable and every interaction meaningful.
Where it worked
KIA’s “Stand With The Stars AR Photo Booth" was built to activate in stadiums and events, aiming to amplify KIA's association with the Brisbane Broncos. High-resolution video capture leveraged live segmentation. Intricate green screen/rotoscoping techniques meant fans could virtually stand with their sports idols. The AR interaction was showcased in full splendor on a vibrant 70" screen, captivating the participants with its scale and clarity. Participants could even enter their email to receive the image as memorabilia.
Smart Play:
AI powered personalisation
Smart Play is where XR meets intelligence. Here, experiences are not just interactive, they’re personal, generative, and adaptive. AI-driven content tailors each encounter to the individual, creating truly one off emotional engagements which are both cutting-edge and deeply human.
Smart Play elevates the brand experience by making every consumer feel seen and valued. The result? Deeper loyalty, stronger advocacy, and enough data that makes success easy to measure.
Where it worked
Uber Eats collaborated with Australia Zoo and Paris Hilton for an unconventional ad campaign featuring an interactive, 3D Zoo map. The stylised miniaturisation created ease of navigation through the zoo’s attractions. Users could zoom in, explore, and interact with digital enclosures, all including exclusive branded content along with offers and promotions. Users could have the animals appear in their own room for immersive photo opportunities, or simply kick back and watch clips from the zoo’s collection.
Simplicity matters
When XR is easy to talk about, it’s easy to implement, and even easier to measure. Our approach ensures that every activation is not just innovative, but also trackable and optimised for impact.
The future of XR isn’t about technology for technology’s sake. It’s about creating shared moments of connection that spark curiosity, drive action, and grow brand love.
